Background
Cape Equity Investments (Pty) Ltd (Cape Equity) is a Cape based and purpose driven B-BBEE investment group that was established in 2021.
In 2020 the Covid 19 Pandemic resulted in the closure of many businesses, especially small and medium sized enterprises in disadvantaged communities.
Rob Williams together with Lionel Jacobs (Businessman); Richard Rhoda (Chartered Accountant); Dr Cedric Groener (Dentist) decided to bridge this gap by establishing Cape Equity Investments Pty Ltd.
Capitalization
The company is capitalized with shareholders’ equity and loans.
Equity Funding
The company has a total of 75 shareholders. Each founder member recruited 10 shareholders. Shareholders purchased a minimum of 20 000 shares comprising 70% ordinary and 30% preferential shares.
Ordinary shares
Ordinary shareholders will not sell shares within the first 6 years.
Shareholders of ordinary shares will receive dividends when profits are made.
Preferential shares.
Preferential shares will receive a return of 6% after six years.
Corporate Funding
The company will raise capital from financial and institutional investors.
Capital will be raised to leverage acquisitions in Corporates wishing to partner with Cape Equity.
We will form joint ventures with Corporates wishing to improve their employment equity.
Investment criteria
Cape Equity will invest in the following sectors:
- Agriculture
- Healthcare
- Information, communication, and technology
- Finance/Financial Services
- Property
- Renewable energy and water
- Other viable opportunities
Every sector is spearheaded by a specialist with intimate knowledge of the industry to extract maximum value. Cape Equity will acquire 20% shareholding in underlying investments depending on the size of the transaction.
