Reverend Trevor John Pearce

Background: Trevor was born in Rondebosch in 1956, the eldest of 3 children. At age 8 his dad died and at age 9 his family were forcibly removed and settled in Heideveld. He schooled in Bonteheuwel. His Mom married a widower and moved to Maitland where he matriculated from Kensington High. Trevor began his work-life in 1973, managing public offices for the Old Mutual. In 1978 he entered full time ministry as a missionary with Operation Mobilization. He sailed on the maiden voyage of the missionary ship “Doulos”, a Titanic era ship, to work in several countries in Latin America.

Education: 

In 1980 he went to St Paul’s Theological College, Grahamstown, and was ordained in 1982. He holds a Dip.Th. (St. Paul’s College); B.Th. in Mission Studies (University of S.A.) and an M.A. in Organisational Leadership (Eastern University, U.S.A.). Trevor received training at the prestigious Haggai Institute in Singapore in 1985.

Work experience: 

1982 – 2006 He served 5 parishes in Lansdowne, Mitchells Plain, Caledon, Belhar & Bergvliet. 

1986 – Pioneered Haggai Evangelism & Leadership Programme (HELP, South Africa) 

1988 – Engaged in Haggai Training in several African countries. • 1991 – Built a church and hall which can seat 600 in Belhar and employed 38 people. 

1992 – Opened an Educare Centre in the church hall for 100 children which still functions today. 

1993 – 2008 Invited to be a regular occasional lecturer at Haggai International bases in Singapore & Hawaii. 

1998 – Introduced the Transformation Movement to Cape Town. 

2000 – hosted a national, and an international Transformation Conference in Cape Town. 

2001 – filled Newlands Rugby Stadium with 47 000 people for a prayer meeting - Graham Power 

2006–Went global.

 2007 to 2022 – Appointed as Director of “Growing the Church” (GtC) ; a church growth institute which he was invited to pioneer from 2007 onwards for the 30 dioceses of the Anglican Church across Southern Africa. He retired and handed over the reins to another in 2022. 

2012 – Pioneered the Anglicans Ablaze conferences, starting with 1400 attendees. In 2014 we hosted the Archbishop of Canterbury.

Other interests:                                             

A natural entrepreneur by gifting, Trevor has had forays into property development and investment, and the importation and sale of mostly ladies’ garments from Singapore and Jakarta. 

He was also one of the founding members (first 20) of “Siphumelele Investments Ltd” in 1994 – a BEE company that traded very successfully for several years. Rob Williams and Lionel Jacobs were directors. 

Trevor serves currently as an Alpha Strategic Advisor on a part-time basis. The Alpha Course is used by every major denomination. In 2023, 1.9 million people did an Alpha Course in one of 141 countries in the world. Do try it! He is happily married to Cheryl and they have 3 lovely sons, and two grandchildren.
